Marx was looking for a non-exploitative economic system. His vision was based on common laws applicable for all to share the wealth of the society. He, however, did not develop any economic development model backed by theories for the economy he had in mind. It was an idea converted into an economic model without any backing from any economic theory. He has therefore left many empty boxed uncovered. He also did not think of human aspirations, natural potentials gifted by the Nature to fight and survive against any adverse conditions. He thought that the state could plan everything for all its subjects, thereby ignoring individual's own dreams and aspirations.
On the other hand, Mahatma Gandhi had this view point right from the bottom of his human society concept. Gandhi was not an economist as defined in the present lexicon. But he was an extraordinary human much concerned about the entire mankind of this world. He was talking all about allowing every human being to be independent and achieve progress to lead a decent and purposeful life to reach the ultimate destination ordained by the almighty. He wanted every man to be independent and to have his means of production and carry out production activity mainly for living than for profit. He could not write his thoughts in economic terms. But he was much faster in thinking about human-centric society than the present day economists. This was almost one hundred years ago. He was a true visionary for this reason. His thoughts and philosophy has to be converted into today's economics lexicon. This would give the freedom for every human being to get out the suffocation being experienced under the Marxian or capitalist economic systems. Marx's system was like state capitalism as against private capitalism in capitalist society. Marx had to support capitalists to save wage-employees's jobs during depression periods. This factor was responsible for his theory to become unacceptable to the common people who are not privileged as wage-employees.
Monopoly market is presently being sold in capitalist economies as free market. This is done intentionaly by economists from the West who are normally work under the influence of capitalists. This system is not sustainable. Today the capitalist economies are facing crises due to this reason too. If we implement free market economy with oversight of the omnipotent state, the results would be wonderful for human beings and just opposite of those in capitalism and Marxism. This is the main reason for the failure of Marxism and now the capitalism. Free market creates society with abundance of products and services. Free market leads to a totally decentralized economic system, which was envisioned by M K Gandhi. No economist in the West has ever tried to develop an economic theory based on abundance till date. Many classical economists including JM Keynes had commented and also talked about abundance arising out of progress in science and technology, but never ventured to go further in the matter. Free market and capitalism cannot work together. For the first time a theoretical proposition has been worked out by Dr. M G Bokare, an Indian economist, in 1993. His thought process was matching with that was practiced by Hindu civilisation in ancient India (BC). He therefore named this thesis as Hindu-economics. Second edition of this book is available from http://www.pothi.com It must be studied for self illumination and also to find soultions to the Gandhi's vision in economics lexicon.
